I see the sun has kissed your skin, dear friend…
my blue-green eyes...caught
~ in a wander, through glass gardens ~
by the shine in the up curve of your summer smile.
Weightless, it seems, in its journey across your face,
soft, but protected...that if, by chance
it were to open, the world might fall out.
You rise…earlier than most ~
feet racing, to press the dusking dunes,
that they might reveal their naked secrets by first light.
It's in this stillness, that you breathe…the holy,
with lens, poised for the dawn blessing.
To my left; a candle flickers, with love's intent ~
I feel you reach through my window…beyond words,
with artists soul and eyes that glisten, then pool…
~ when the life winds blow…I shall comfort you ~
Catchers of many worlds; your shoulders tell
a hard story, bare truths that would bury the weak, yet,
soften to cradle the face of innocence.
The sun is falling…into the sea, dear friend
I sense your feet, pressed again, to the dusking dunes, and I smile
knowing…it's in this stillness, that you breathe…
breathe…the holy.

Six strings to his smile
I stand here, cloaked
in my frustration, as I
follow the teen trail; winding
its way through the house...
socks, shoes, schoolbag, jacket,
even his guitar pick.
My poetry…a falcon; caged in my throat,
aching to feel the flight of freedom...
my ears hurt in sickness,
sick of the sound of my own voice...
I really need to relax.
Then I hear his home coming,
the front door, left wide open,
his life blood drifting in, on
the winter winds that dance my long hair,
obscuring my vision for a moment...but
I hear him, feel his joy.
I am cleansed, in the letting go
of 'me' ~ the 'me' of my battles,
it's a welcomed release;
a throat…softening
As manchild plays Bon Jovi, "Dead or Alive",
the only things that matter
in that moment, are
the six strings....to his smile...

Nocturne
Chopin, fingered the ivory of our composition
haunting the lace of an ever open window
an incantation that quickened the night
as the wind swept and swirled like the raven's wing
grazing the swaying flesh of trees
a revenant augury of the howling season
in climbing tattoos of henna, that sang
in tempest tones and notes that chilled our bones
while umbra stalked the landscape of a satin draped storm
wet and rolling...
it licked like thunder, humid, in monsoon tongue
music to the long stemmed lily in crystal vase surrender
while the I of the storm...the blood of a bitch
was the ire that tore our sky apart

"Happy" is a Puddle
Oft' I have wondered, of the comfort of shadows,
of how, I could be lulled in it's blush, yet,
it's touch upon my skin, still eludes me
…as if I could get that close…to anything
In the night's weeping, I would pray,
silent, but for the rain, lilting, in its refrain…
it fell, like falling stars, past the street lamp on the corner,
to my prayers, to my dreams, to me,
until we were drenched in the sacred.
Just a rain-child, born with Autumn in my veins,
a listener of winds tickling trees, a watcher
of colours bleeding out, topsy turvy, to the ground.
A runner, a jumper; connecting the dots of "happy" together,
chasing the giggles that escaped my mouth, knowing
that the worlds best kept secret, was
"happy" was a puddle with my name on it
Autumn flowed in evanescence, and my child world fell asleep, yet,
I smile in gratitude for the light that filtered through
a little box of songs, tucked, with love, behind my pillow,
opening the moon right up, to spill, and tumble
into my being, on the breath of each new day...
and now; tripping over innocence, I fall
headlong…into poetry
